June Favourites

We Are Knitters Crochet Cotton ‘19

We Are Knitters have an amazing crochet collection out this summer and I’m living for every. single. piece.

If you haven’t already checked it out, you can see it here and know that I am already committed to making the Hawi Top, which is my favourite of course because it uses the same stitch that I used for Liula and I am all about that lovely lacy leaf pattern, it really has to be my favourite stitch pattern of ALL time - biggy big balls statement huh?

I can’t wait to get started on this, I think it will be the perfect summer project and all I need is some super sunshine, a few quiet afternoons (although a whole week off would be nice eh?) and perhaps a jug of iced coffee and I’ll be all set.

Llama Shawl by Ana Vicky

Well, shall we have a chat about this eh? What an absolute stunner of a pattern from Ana Vicky, if you haven’t checked out her spectacularly colourful instagram page then might I suggest you do so immediately.

I saw this pattern and knew that I wanted to make it immediately for Betsy, who is a total rainbow/llama/unicorn/flower/pompom loving kinda girl through and quite rightly so if you ask me.

And it’s a good job I learned how to crochet c2c isn’t it? How can you resist a pattern as happy and colourful as this?

I think I’m going to make the main body of the shawl in bright pink - even though I do love Ana Vicky’s bright turquoise blue and can we just talk about the flower headband on Mrs Llama….too darn cute!

Can’t wait to get started, expect to see lots of bright colours here very soon.

Dawn, the designer behind The Almond Snug has launched a cracker of a summer top with her Ma Cherie design.

It’s very nautical isn’t it? I thought was super classy and am currently considering what colours to make it in. Isn’t it lovely? What about those cherries huh?

I’m not sure what yarn to use, the pattern calls for sport weight yarn which is a weird weight in the UK with not too many options although I do think it’s a fairly standard weight in the US and perhaps even Europe.

I love Dawn’s fresh blue and white but I’m thinking I might go with my usual pinky tones, maybe with a splash of bronze.

What about those cherries though?

Pony Mctate Yarnbombing

The magnificent and mighty Pony Mctate has a new project in collaboration with her local town in New Zealand, yarnbombing bicycles. I’m obsessed.

And you can get involved too, just click this link to find out how you can contribute to her awesome adventure but be quick, she needs all contributions by the middle of July.

And finally, if you want to beat the Instagram algorithm and find some amazing new crochet accounts to follow just click #lovethecrochetersyoufollow and be prepared to be amazed.

The idea came from @sjantietop as an add on to the #lovethefeedsyoufollow created by @lucky_coins_home which is also well worth a look and a clever way to get around the current state of the algorithm on instagram which is crushing joy every day.

See you at the end of July with more favourites.
