EPISODE 97 SHOW NOTES

I’m still feeling the giddy effects of all that Easter joy (chocolate) and have finished quite a few socks since the last time I saw you.

FINISHED OBJECTS

I’ve got two finished pairs of socks this week, I’m so happy that I managed to get my Easter socks finished in time for the earliest Easter ever! Ha, it totally took me by surprise this year.

The first pair were for Betsy, which are very much Easter themed. I used the Popping Candy sock set from Woolly Mama Yarns, swapping out the neon yellow for the neon pink as per Betsy’s request. The pattern is a new zig zag design worked over 60 stitches that I’m hoping to launch soon.

My beautiful bag is from Eva at Coco & Flora on Etsy and you can find her shop here.

The second finished socks are for Darren using my favourite Pairfect sock yarn from Regia (now discontinued). He went rogue on me and demanded mis-matched toes because he knew I wasn’t entirely happy with the Nutmeg West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply toe and I had bought some of the new (is it new?) Scheepjes Metropolis sock yarn in the colour Bogota (050) so he asked for one of each and actually, I can’t believe I’m about to say this, he was right. Ha! They look great don’t they?

Coins Socks

I’ve also finally finished one of my new Coins Socks. I’m currently working on the pattern and have just started sock two which I’m slightly adjusting to try and make the ribbing, which is the main part of the chuffing pattern, less tight and angry looking. I’m using Drops Nord in the Goldenrod colour.

These are the last in my tarot series of socks using my favourite Drops Nord woolly sock yarn in the colour Mustard. The previous socks are the Wands, the Cups and the Swords and the bag is from Coco & Flora.

WIPS

I’ve been working quite a bit on my Viajante - although you wouldn’t know it because it’s one of those projects that never seems to grow, which is a theme this week isn’t it? I’m using Malabrigo Lace in the Cognac colourway and this is one of my Make Nine projects for 2021.

Same goes for my Granny Advent blanket, I am now at 121 squares and it’s only the size of a placemat. Gah! How frustrating but also, how amazing will this look when it’s finished?? I’m quite excited. The pattern uses a yarn advent (mine is from Biffsugaryarn from 2019) and is free, you can find it here.

I’m also working on my vintage Sirdar cardigan. The pattern is an old one, Sirdar 5952 (I got mine from Ebay), and I’m using Stylecraft Life DK in the Bark colourway - which may now be discontinued because I can’t seem to find it.

NEW & NOTABLE

I’ve started two new pairs of socks.

The first ones are part of my Make Nine 2021 and they are the Apidae Socks by Shara Lambeth. The yarn I’m using is Hedgerow Yarns Fairy Lights on a stellina base which I got in a destash and I’m using 2.25mm needles which I may live to regret (as per usual).

The second are another pair of my Wych Elm Socks. The yarn is a sock set from Biffsugaryarns called Flashdance.

I also have the March Sweet Tooth Yarn Club from Woolly Mama Yarns - pretty and the new books from Scheepjes and Rowan.

Enjoy the podcast folks, and don’t forget to shine bright like a diamond.
