EPISODE 155 SHOW NOTES

Today I’m a bit giddy because I thankfully didn’t succumb to the peer pressure and buy the MKAL pattern even though I almost talked myself into it!!

FINISHED

I finished my beautiful Thistle Thorn socks, the lovely pattern by Jane Burns from issue 11 of the Scheepjes Yarn Book.

I love these socks, the lace pattern is super beautiful and they have washed and blocked out lovely, the blocking definitely helped to relax the yarn and they feel super soft and squishy now.

The yarn I used is Cascade 220 fingering in the colour Goldenrod which is a 100% Peruvian Highland wool, no nylon fingering weight yarn (no nylon, yikes)! and for quite a while it looked like I was only going to use 50g of wool for these socks but I got to the toe and had to break into my second skein.

HALF FINISHED

I’ve finished the body of my So Faded and it’s looking very lovely right now and I’m about to start the sleeves, which I think I’m going to knit concurrently.

It’s living in the first ever project bag I bought at Yarndale 2016 from Clare at Birdstreet Yarn.

I’m using the recommended needles and making a size 3.

The yarns I’m using are:

First Colour - Unregistered Animagus by A Homespun House - a Harry Potter club colour that I won in Amy’s (@noblecharactercrafts) 2021 make nine makealong.

Second Colour - Aunt Marge & Ripper by Paper Stories - again Harry Potter themed!

Third Colour - Stan Shunpike by Paper Stories - it’s basically a Harry Potter Halloween Sweater at this point!

Nearly finished….

No frills..

ALSO HALF FINISHED (WITH A SIDE ORDER OF FRILL)

I’ve finished my granny square top now and it looks (and fits) amazing!!! I’m so happy with it.

Then for some reason I decided to try some random frilly effect out on the sleeves and it looks awful, turns an epic outfit into a fancy dress outfit.

So that frilly sleeve is coming off this weekend and I’m going to finish the garment off with something a bit more subtle, no frills allowed.

You can see the jumper I saw at Hush here, with the knitted on cuffs and hem, and whilst I like it, I don’t really want the blouson style, especially because I like the length of the top as it is and I don’t want to shorten it any further.

I’m using all the leftovers from my DK weight calendar from Indie Yarn Club.

For reference the black I’m using is Stylecraft Special DK.

WIPS

My WIPS are all socks.

My first pair are my Bonfire Socks. I’m also using a new Ollie & Bella project bag for them. The Bonfire Socks is a free pattern and I’m using the leftover Harry Potter yarn from my So Faded top, it was a club colourway from A Homespun House and I’m using it together with Violet from Opal.

I also decided to make Darren’s Christmas socks in a 3x1 rib, I’ve never done that before and I think it makes them look like proper army socks. The yarn I’m using is by Novita, it’s called Venla and I’m using the shade Mugworth (372). I’m keeping this project in my beloved Barty bag from Coco & Flora.

I’m also making a new pair of October Socks using a beautiful sock set from Biffsugar Yarns called Bon Anniversaire - I think it was a one-off to celebrate Alison’s 50th birthday. The yarn is another one of those colourways that really looks like October so I’m sure they are going to be really pretty socks. I’m keeping this socks in my pumpkin Ollie & Bella project bag.

IN CLOSING

I finally got another bag of stuffing so I can continue making lots more lovely pumpkins using the pattern from CaMaRose which you can find here.
