EPISODE 91 SHOW NOTES

FINISHED OBJECTS

I finished all of the characters from the 2020 Christmas collection from Lydia Tresselt, Christmas Vol. 2. You can find Lydia on instagram as @lalylaland and all her patterns are available to buy on Ravelry.

I used Scheepjes Catona in the recommended colours; white (old lace) beige (moon rock), petrol (spruce), red (hot red), and yellow (saffron).

They were given to Betsy for Christmas and she loved them enough to display them on a shelf in her room and I’ll take that.

I also finished Betsy’s welly socks. The lovely yarn is Rico Superba Vintage in the Pink Mix colourway and I worked a 60st sock on 2.25mm needles with a German short row heel. The yarn is very woolly feeling and quite a thick 4ply so perfect for wearing with wellies.

Luxury Sparkle Socks

I finished my annual WYS Christmas socks too. This year I’m using the Fairy Lights colourway with the added sparkle and I’m pairing it with Cayenne Pepper also from WYS. I’m just working my standard vanilla sock on 2.25mm needles.

More importantly I finished my Luxury Sparkle Socks.

For these rather fabulous ankle socks I used a mixture of sequins, 4ply and mohair lace.

I will share the basic pattern for these socks soon but in the meantime I am using a 4ply sock yarn called Golden Gate from Miss Moffat Yarns on Etsy, together with the fabulous King Cole Cosmos in the Copper (1102) colourway and Drops Kid Silk in the Rust (33) colourway.

I am also using 2.5mm needles.

Last but not least I finished my Kinross shawl and it’s lovely. The pattern is from Rowan 68 and is by Georgia Farrell and I especially love the yarn, Rowan Classic Alpaca in the colours Cinnamon, Soft Satin and Willow.

Moo is also rather taken with the yarn :)

FREE PATTERN

I’ve now uploaded the free pattern for my Bonfire Socks and you can find the pattern and all the details here.

NEW WIPS

My Christmas Eve cast-on is in dispute. I am using the gold stellina Bottle Brush Christmas Trees from Dandelion & Dogwood together with the new lace sock pattern from Sandra Paul (Cherry Heart) called Sugar Icing Socks.

I love both the yarn and the pattern but I’m currently in the stuck place because I’m not sure about the blue cuff that I’ve knitted and am considering ripping back.

On Boxing Day I started the Roll Neck Poncho from Sirdar in Haworth Tweed using the Yorkshire Stone colourway.

And then on New Year’s Day I started my year-long Viajante project using Malabrigo Lace in the Cognac colourway. I have had to start the whole thing again (see hole discovery section of the podcast :) and I will go into that in more detail in the next episode.

NEW & NOTABLE

My word for the year and my colour palette for the year go together for 2021. My word is LIGHT and my colour palette is NEON.

I have been getting myself ready for my Neon New Year with some purchases from Spectrum Fibre and Woolly Mama Yarns.

I also purchased a pretty yarn from Blue Fern Yarns called Blossom.

I got some pretty snips and the Coco Knits needle gauge for Christmas and I think Darren bought them from Yarn Worx on Etsy.

Enjoy the podcast folks, and don’t forget to shine bright.
