crazy stitches

I found these two different types of crazy stitch in a vintage stitch book, the name just tickled me so I felt it necessary to do a tutorial for both. The pink one is the small crazy stitch (cute as) and the blue one is the large crazy stitch (duh!). I love them both and think they look completely different when swatched up; the small crazy stitch is quite a dense, almost fabric stitch whilst the large crazy bitch is so leggy that she's almost lacy.

Here are the stitch patterns written out, for a video tutorial on both, see below. The pattern is taken from a vintage stitch pattern book called New Directions in Crochet.

Small Crazy Stitch - multiples of 4 plus 4.

Row 1. work your desired foundation chain then work 3tr into the 4th ch from the hook, *skip 3 sts, (1dc, ch3, 3tr) in next st; repeat from * to last four sts, miss 3 sts, 1dc in last st, turn.

Row 2. ch3, 3tr in first dc, *(1dc, ch3, 3tr) in ch3 space; repeat from * across ending with 1dc underneath turning chain, turn.

Repeat Row 2 for pattern.

Large Crazy Stitch - multiples of 4 plus 5

Row 1. work your desired foundation chain then work 3dtr in 5th ch from the hook, *skip 3 sts, (1tr, ch3, 3dtr) in next st; repeat from * to last four sts, miss 3 sts, 1tr in last st, turn.

Row 2. ch4, 3dtr in first tr, *(1tr, ch3, 3dtr) in ch3 space; repeat from * across ending with 1tr underneath turning chain, turn.

Repeat Row 2 for pattern.

Here is the video tutorial, I was originally going to do two separate videos which is why I repeat myself so darn much so huge apologies and I hope you like this one, I sure do and have already got something on the go using the large stitch! Happy crocheting YO!

AKA the one where I very quickly become quite annoying by repeating the word ker...razy! I found these gorgeous Crazy Stitch patterns in a vintage (1981) crochet book called New Directions in Crochet by Anne Rabun Ough and immediately fell in love with both the stitches and the name (I do go on about that a lot so do forgive me!).
