episode 65 | love yourself and each other

In this episode I discuss all the things I’ve been making, and mainly finishing, because I had a lot of almost finished WIPs that had been patiently waiting for a bit of love and attention. This week is also Mental Health Awareness Week in association with the mental health charity Mind and I talk about a great pattern from Louisa at @thefibrelounge and how we could all do with loving ourselves and each other a bit more.

Episode 65 Show Notes

Diamond Heart Throw by Esme Crick @redsparrowcrochet

I love this pattern, you can buy Esme’s patterns in her Etsy shop here. This is my first attempt at mosaic crochet and it is perfection.I’m using Sirdar Snuggly in Petal Pink (212) and Stylecraft Special DK in Gold (1709) (the most fabulous, fabulous colour).

Love Yourself Mandala

This lovely pattern is available to buy from The Fibre Lounge with Louisa donating £1 from every sale to Mind. I used Rico Baby Cotton Soft to make my version (using the colours cinnamon, salmon, pastel green and nude) but if you fancy something a bit different (I am obsessed with this Rico yarn at the moment), check out all the different colours/versions on the #loveyourselfmandala hashtag.

Ambala Remixed Shawl

I finally finished my version of the Ambala Remixed shawl, I felt bad launching and not having it finished so got my hooky on and finished off this beauty. I love the clash of the red and the pink at either end and I used a Cotton Flowers yarn cake which I don’t think are available anymore but you can use a Scheepjes Whirl or a Rico Cotton Degrade or any other the other amazing 3ply (or 4ply) gradient yarns that are available right now.

Darren’s Christmas Socks

I finally finished them, woohoo! Only (ahem) months too late but still, they are lovely. I used Regia Pairfect in the Cinnamon Colourway which I have just found out is being discontinued so if you want a pair in this colour then you better be quick!

I haven’t got much in progress at the minute, but I am making the Lemvig Shawl by @marretjeroos - I’m using Hedgehog Fibres sock yarn in the Teacup colourway and Drops Nord in the Light Beige Mix colourway.

And yes, as per usual, I’ve gone wrong with the pattern but I’m going all Bob Ross and passing the mistake off as a happy little accident!

I also purchased a copy of the new Scheepjes bookazine, this issue is called Reef and you can buy it here. It really is wonderful and is packed, properly jam packed, fully of great crochet patterns.

I also bought some lovely yarn from Miss Moffat Yarns, she usually has very cool, seaside tones in her shop but this past week she had the loveliest shade of rusty red called Golden Gate and so I had to buy it.

The tutorial for the Vertical Scallop Stitch will go live this weekend. Yahoo!!

If you haven’t done so already, you can watch the podcast here.
